Who We Are
Those who are not familiar with CHOICE frequently ask me: “What do you do?”.
The quick answer is that we are a peer agency that assists consumers of mental health services to receive vital benefits to which they are entitled.
Beyond the traditional definition, what we really do is help people to restore dignity in their lives. People who have fallen, and continue to fall, and can’t figure out how to get up again. People who have become lost in a bureaucratic system that intimidatingly complex under the best of circumstances. People who have lost their homes, their families, their health and are challenged by the daunting test of how to keep going.
We change lives, we save lives and we help people regain the dignity they deserve.
That’s where we come in. We help our clients to find housing, obtain Medicaid, Food Stamps, Social Security benefits and locate a variety of other programs that they need. At the end of our time together we will have successfully helped someone back to a place in life where they are positive contributors in their community. Most importantly, we do so without judgment and with compassion. Everyone deserves that in their lives.
And that’s what we really do at CHOICE: We change lives, we save lives and we help people regain the dignity they deserve.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know our agency. We are a 15-year-old organization with a rich heritage that provides a critical service to the local community. We invite your questions and involvement, and we appreciate your support, financial or otherwise.
Sincerely,
Guy Fessenden
