We are an organization that believes in helping people… one person at a time. We recently rang our GOOD OUTCOMES BELL for Jonathan. Imagine what it would be like if, on top of all of your daily struggles, you had no place to call home. No foundation. No safe haven. That is what Jonathan was facing while struggling with depression soon after the loss of his wife. We stepped in to help.

Jonathan came to us with a pending application for Section 8 Housing. He had a history of homelessness and alcoholism. He was living from couch to couch and by the time he made it to us, he was living in a bug-infested room and was being abused by the person who so “kindly” allowed him to stay in the room. He put up with both physical and verbal abuse because he felt he was out of options. For him, the shelters were just as bad.

To make matters even worse, Jonathan’s wife had recently passed away and he struggled with severe depression. He had  a tremendous amount of anxiety about getting back into the system. We assured him that there was a better way. We worked with Jonathan to gain his trust and show him that we could help him get back a sense of security and stability.

Jonathan had applied for Section 8 Housing in 2012 but for years, his application had been ignored. We followed up on his case and accompanied him to his housing interview. Soon thereafter, Jonathan had a good clean, stable roof over his head. It was even in the exact location he had been praying would come through for him. It’s a New Year for Jonathan, in fact, he moved in on New Year’s Day. We’ve helped him furnish the place and he finally has a safe place to call his own – a much better place from which to start each day and come home to each night. We’re proud of Jonathan for coming to us for help and we’re glad that we could help put a more solid foundation under his feet.
